Windows 98 Lives

Unable to develop a consumer version of Windows 2000 while they can't get the main version to work, Microsoft will release "Second Edition".

Microsoft told us that Windows 98 was the end of the line and would have no successor, that it would be replaced by a consumer version of Windows 2000. Recognizing the problems it's having getting just one version of Windows 2000 out the door, Microsoft has retracted that plan and will continue the DOS based operating system line with Windows 98 Second Edition, to be released in the near future.
